C1 – Continuous Forest monitoring
EvoLand will improve the timeliness of the status and change of High-Resolution Layers (HRL) products for Forest Monitoring by providing near real-time information (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly). Aiming for an almost fully automated processing approach, it is looking to achieve a 10m spatial resolution.

EvoLand will improve the timeliness of the status and change of the CLMS High-Resolution Layers (HRL) products for Forest Monitoring by providing monthly resolved information within yearly products. Aiming for an almost fully automated processing approach, this CLMS candidate prototype provides results at a 10m spatial resolution. Results will be compared with the current 20m change products considering the thematic accuracy levels, requested by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and downstream national and regional users. The project will apply new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) methodologies, space-time series modelling, novel generated training data, and novel infrastructure for fast and automated exploitation of time series of EO data. Finally, recommendations will be provided about potential future product specifications for Forest Monitoring within the next HRL Vegetated Land Cover Characteristics (VLCC) or other future Forestry products.
